San Ramon

 

The City of San Ramon is considered a premier residential community in the San Francisco Bay Area. People come to San Ramon for its beautiful vistas, fine weather, good schools, attractive parks, and access to work. Some of the best of what Northern California has to offer in recreation, entertainment, leisure, and more, is less than an hour a way in any direction.  It’s located on 18.5 square miles in Contra Costa County, about 25 miles east of Oakland in the scenic San Ramon Valley, between Danville to the north and Dublin to the south.

 

Bishop Ranch is home to 550 companies representing more than 30 industries, and includes offices for some of the major corporations in the world, such as Chevron, AT&T, and IBM. The 580-acre office park with 5.9 million square feet of office space is also home to start-ups and growing companies in areas like social software and clean tech. More than 30,000 employees enjoy a wide array of amenities offered at the park, including an award winning transportation program, fun and entertaining on-going and annual events, childcare referrals, business seminars, access to medical services, and more. There’s also more than 4 million square feet of retail and lodging space located within the park.

 

The city is poised to create a dynamic City Center along Bollinger Canyon Road at Camino Ramon, through a partnership with Bishop Ranch’s owner, Sunset Development Company. The plan calls for a new city hall and library, as well as 2.1 million of square feet of leasable space, including office and retail, near the city’s Central Park. Through the City Center, San Ramon will achieve a community-gathering place, long desired by residents since incorporation.

 

San Ramon offers residents a wide array of recreational opportunities at its 54 parks, three community centers, and two aquatic centers. More than 20 trails are located within the city, including The Iron Horse Trail, a regional multi-use trail that once was the right-of-way for the Southern Pacific Railroad. The city borders the Bishop Ranch Regional and Sycamore Valley open spaces, along with Tassajara Regional Park. It’s a short drive to Mt. Diablo State Park, and Las Trampas Regional Wilderness, among other regional recreational areas. There are three golf courses inside San Ramon, as well as the Crow Canyon Country Club in Danville, right on the cities northern border.

 

Cultural opportunities in San Ramon include the Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center, where Grammy winning musicians perform, as well as top rated dance troupes, and orchestras. It’s also where San Ramon’s Community Theatre presents plays and musicals, Improv U puts on improv nights, and other local bands and choruses entertain. The Children’s Series presents popular family-friendly performances throughout the year.
